Casita is on a mission to help people discover Mexico's incredible architecture and design. You can support us by booking your next trip directly through our website - you'll get a great rate and help us grow!

A three-minute walk from an almost untouched stretch of beach, this house was conceived for those seeking privacy, quiet, and an unhurried proximity to the sea. Spectacular sunsets unfold nightly from its shores, while the pool placed as the true center of the house allows the rhythms of weather and nature to be felt from within, without ever requiring a step outside.

Designed by Taller de Arquitectura Alberto Calleja (TAC), the house draws from mid-century modernism and contemporary architecture alike, filtered through the tropical brutalism that has come to define this stretch of the Oaxacan coast. Its plan is restrained: two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed; two and a half bathrooms; a living room; a dining room for six; a fully equipped kitchen; a grill and wood-fired oven; a swimming pool; a roof deck; high-speed internet; and air conditioning throughout. A private cook is also available, offering guests the rare luxury of forgetting the everyday entirely.

Ten minutes on foot lies Casa Wabi, placing the house within one of the most celebrated cultural and architectural corridors in Mexico a coastline where art, architecture, nature, and gastronomy coexist by design. The region has earned international recognition for its concentration of work by Pritzker Prize winning architects such as Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma, Rem Koolhaas of OMA, and Álvaro Siza, alongside leading Mexican practices including Alberto Kalach, Aranzazu de Ariño, S-AR, Ambrossi & Etchegaray, TAC, and Gaeta Springall.

The house sits within a relaxed, residential setting, and guests are asked to be mindful of noise, particularly in the evenings. Its open architecture is best suited to older children and adults, and the property does not accommodate pets. As with much of this tropical coastline, guests may occasionally encounter insects, brief internet fluctuations, or power interruptions beyond the property's control the quiet cost of a setting this close to nature.

Guests are welcome to enjoy the entirety of the house throughout their stay.

The property lies 35 minutes from Puerto Escondido International Airport and 45 minutes from the town of Puerto Escondido, reachable by taxi, rental car, or private driver arranged in advance. Nearby points of interest include Casa Wabi, Kakurega Omakase, Punta Pájaros, Hotel Escondido, Hotel Terrestre, and the bioluminescent waters of the Manialtepec Lagoon.
