Casa Punta Maeva
The house sits at the top of La Punta, the quieter end of Zicatela where Puerto Escondido’s long surf beach curls toward the point. It’s a short walk down to the sand, about 550 metres, and close enough to hear the break at night. Inside, the design leans Mediterranean. Rooms are open and full of light, the palette stays pale and soft, and the overall effect is calm. It’s a house that slows the day down.
The ground floor opens onto the pool, set among tropical planting with an outdoor shower alongside. The living room and open kitchen share the same space, so cooking, eating and lounging all happen within sight of the water. One bedroom is on this level, with a queen bed and its own bathroom, which suits whoever prefers to be closest to the pool.
Two more bedrooms are on the first floor. One has a king bed and a private bathroom. The other pairs a king with a fold-out queen and also has its own bathroom, a practical arrangement for families travelling with children or friends happy to share.
The rooftop is where most evenings end. There’s a plunge pool, sun loungers and an open view of the Pacific, and the sun sets straight into it. In the morning it’s just as good, before the heat settles in.
Daily housekeeping is included, and the housekeeper keeps access to the property so she can come and go without interrupting the stay. Guests have the whole house, with the exception of the laundry, machine and service rooms. Neither the pool nor the plunge pool is fenced, so supervision of young children rests entirely with their parents. A folding cot is available on request before arrival. The house isn’t suited to parties or events, and quiet hours run from 10pm to 10am, with fines for breaches. Power and internet in La Punta can drop out briefly from time to time, though service usually returns quickly. Private chefs and kitchen suppliers are welcome when recommended or approved by the house in advance. Anyone brought in without approval is the guest’s responsibility.
