The house sits on a rise between the Pacific and the green foothills of the Oaxacan coast, and from almost anywhere inside it you can see both. Ocean on one side, mountains on the other, and between them a band of tropical vegetation running down towards the water. It’s a view that quietly organises the day: mornings turned to the hills, evenings turned to the sea as the light goes.

The architecture keeps out of the way. Volumes of concrete and local wood are arranged so the house opens in every direction, and the living spaces read less as rooms than as frames for the landscape. The six bedrooms are generous and calm, the bathrooms pared back. An open living area gives onto wide terraces, and the terraces give onto an infinity pool that carries the eye straight out to the horizon.

Food is a large part of how the house is meant to be lived in. The kitchen is professionally equipped for guests who want to cook, and outside there’s a barbecue and a pizza oven for long meals in the open air. For those who’d rather not, a private chef can cook on site from an à la carte menu of dishes and drinks, charged separately, so each meal can be as involved or as effortless as the group likes.

Puerto Escondido airport is around thirty minutes away, and the team arranges private, air-conditioned transfers on arrival and departure at an additional cost, so the trip is taken care of from the moment you land. The town is a similar distance, and Casa Wabi is close by. A refundable security deposit is taken before check-in and returned at the end of the stay once the house has been checked.
