The cliffs of Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl rise straight out of the valley floor, weathered and red, and the house sits directly in front of them. It's an hour and fifteen minutes from Mexico City by car. By the time you pull in, the city already feels a long way back.

The design follows what its makers call a Mexica Eclectic language, with architecture, interiors, and handmade craft all working toward one idea: framing the Sierra de Tepoztlán. Every room opens outward. The rock walls fill the windows from the bedrooms, the living spaces, the terraces. Mornings begin with the ridgeline already in view. Later, the jacuzzi is the place to watch the light shift across the stone, and the heated pool sits low in the land with the valley's old silhouettes on every side.

A dedicated staff handles the cooking and cleaning, so the days stay open for rest and little else. It feels remote. The capital is close enough that it never quite is.

Where you’ll be staying

In Tepoztlán, homes effortlessly fuse ancient mystique with avant-garde vibes, creating a laid-back yet vibrant architectural tapestry just 90 minutes from CDMX.

Tepoztlán is located just 90 minutes from Mexico City, so Mexico City International Airport (MEX) is the most common option. From there, you can take private transport, Uber, or drive. There's very few Ubers in Tepoztlán, so you'll want to organize private transport for return.
